SHREWTON continue to sit proudly on top of the Hampshire League County Division 1 after blasting 300 against visiting Ventnor seconds.
But, three points ahead of Portchester at the top, they face thirdplaced Gosport Borough on Saturday in a match that will probably determine whether they have the capacity to make a determined title push.
A total of 300 did not appear likely when Shrewton were 73-3, but Stuart Cruse (72), Tom Pottage (45) and Chris Brewer (40) took the game away from Ventnor in a mid-innings scoring boom.
Ventnor were never at the races and were dismissed for 131, with Jamie Mitchell taking 3-22 for the unbeaten County 1 leaders.
