SHREWTON dropped out of the Hampshire League, County Division 1 championship race when in-form Purbrook beat them by four wickets, writes Mike Vimpany.
They made a steady enough start against a Purbrook side that had won its previous four games, with Will Sleeman (29) and Sam Gillott prospering.
Gillott (61) enjoyed support from Dan Bingley (15) and Stuart Cruse (18).
But, as Martin Lee (5-29) made inroads, only Marcus Jenkins, with 24 not out, made his mark later in the Shrews’ 199 all out.
Shrewton had Purbrook on the back foot, four down, but Josh Spiers (60) and Clark Harding (55) shared a century stand which effectively won the day with some comfort.
