DEPLETED Redlynch & Hale were given a painful lesson at Bedhampton in County Division Two, where they were simply demolished by an exuberant home attack.

Skipper Ian Tanner was pouched in the very first over, and with the in-form opener gone, it was always going to be a tough ask to recover.

Dave Webber hung around trying to hold the innings together, before departing for a hard earned 16.

Jon Hatchett matched that in quick time, before he too fell to a nick to the ‘keeper. After that, the bowlers' tails were up and the lower order capitulated to register a very humble 74 all out.

All that was needed from the hosts was to dig in, concentrate and the runs would come. Dan Clark was unbeaten on 22 and, although there was a the faintest flicker of hope when Stan Boardman trapped Ben Dejong in front for 15, Sean Harris (35no) saw his team quickly home after just 10.1 overs.

A dreadful day at the office for the Woodfalls Cross outfit, who failed to gain a single point from the game.

Meanwhile, there was celebration for club’s seconds, who won their Regional Division Two fixture with Fawley thirds.

Mark Savage, on his return to the team after a long break from cricket, found his form straight away, chalking up 42 before youngster James Benson hit a stylish 56. A cameo from Rich Whitmarsh (20no) towards the end, helped his side to 186-9 at the interval.

In reply, Fawley never really got their innings going. A slow start, thanks to Three wickets from Andy Soutar pegged them right back, and although Waqas Anis (37) and Matt Bracher (37no) batted for a long time, they could only reach 145-5 before the overs ran out.

The thirds, like the firsts, were condemned to a heavy defeat, losing by 10 wickets to Totton & Eling.

The under-15s beat Bramshaw in the New Forest Cup with Harry Northway (40no) and Andy Soutar (35) in the runs again. George Hayes took 4-8 in 3 overs as his side won by 27 runs.

The under-13s, 11s and 9s all secured victories too.
