AN astonishing innings from Terry Harrison lit up a chilly day at Bramshaw on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first, a quiet start saw the visitors on a modest 36-2 in the 15th over.

Harrison entered, who deposited his second ball for six and really just carried on from there. His innings lasted just 20 overs, but in that time he hit 15 sixes and raced to a career best 144 as Nomansland were bowled out in 39 overs for 241.

Only Gary Loveless(20), Sam Dempster (10) and Mike Rowland (11) reached double figures as extras with 31 were second top scorers. Young Tom Mason with 4-20 ended with good figures and John Wall and Phil Curl bowled tidy early spells.

Bramshaw, which play on a fast scoring ground, raced to 26 from the first four overs, but Harrison had not finished his day's work and picked up three wickets in his third over to put Nomansland firmly in charge. John Wall looked in little trouble at one end but wickets continued to fall at the other. Whitcher went for 22 as the visitors slipped to 87-5. Wall and Phil Curl steadied the ship, but Harrison bowled Wall for 44 in his second spell, and the game was all but won. Late resistance from Tom Wall (19 not out) saw Bramshaw to a respectable 161 all out at the close. Harrison finished with 4-31 from eight overs, with Sam Dempster and 14-year-old Matt Rowland picking up two wickets each.
