STEEPLE Langford maintained their 100 per cent winning record in County Division 4 North with a 10-wicket hammering of eight-man Bentworth.

Put into bat, the away team were unable to cope with Steeple Langford’s opening bowlers, Gary Smith and Nick Partridge, who took advantage of the overhead conditions to not only gain a prodigious amount of swing but also bowl with great accuracy.

Only Chenney attempted to attack the bowling with a creditable 22 not out from the visitors’ paltry 51 all out in the 21st over, with Smith ending up with an excellent 4-15 from his 10 overs and Partridge 2-17 from his seven.

With tea still being prepared, Steeple Langford went straight out to bat and openers Adi Hughes and skipper Andy Bennett were keen to ensure there were no hiccups en route to victory.

This they did, reaching the required score in the seventh over, with Hughes once again in confident mood hitting an unbeaten 24 and Bennett ending on nine not out. A maximum points win ensured that Steeple Langford have gone clear at the summit.

Struggling to field a full compliment, Langford 2nds went down to Knights Valley.
