WILTSHIRE travelled to Exmouth on Sunday to take part in the inaugural Unicorns T20 Knock Out Cup with Cornwall, Dorset and Devon.

Wiltshire played Devon in the first match followed by Cornwall and Dorset, with the winners going through to play each other to find a team to take part in the finals at Banbury in July.

With Michael Coles suffering from a back problem, Ed Young took over the captaincy and winning the toss, asked Devon to bat. Devon attacked from the first ball and Rob Woodman (97 off 52 balls) and Sandy Allen (35) put on 116 for the first wicket in 11 overs. At the end of the 20 overs, Devon had scored 207 for five wickets, a formidable score. Andy Carroll took two for 51 and Ashur Morrison three for 33.

In reply, Wiltshire lost wickets on a regular basis and were all out for 129 in 17.4 overs to leave Devon winners by 78 runs.

Wiltshire start the defence of their Unicorns Western Division title with a three day match against Dorset at Dean Park Bournemouth on next Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (June 7, 8, 9) with play starting at 11am each day.
