FARLEY’S winning run came to an end with a lacklustre performance at home to an experienced Exbury side in Regional Division 1 West.
Inserted, Farley lost Mike Covill early for a quickfire 31.
Simon Wakeford made a solid 47 but it was the fifth wicket stand between Geoff Ramsey and Dave Glanvill (34) that ensured maximum batting points for the fifth week in a row. Ramsey continued to flay the bowling on to his unbeaten 83, as Farley finished on 231-8.
Loose opening overs got Exbury off to a flying start, with the in-form Phil Craymer finding the boundaries with ominous regularity. Ted Glanvill was the only bowler who managed to consistently keep him in check, as he added 63 for the second wicket and then 120 for the third with Adam Cornwall (65). Craymer finally offered a chance on 98, with Jake Hand taking a well-judged catch. Late wickets from Ted Glanvill (3-35) gave Farley a sniff but the visitors finished things off in the 41st over, winning by five wickets.
