AFTER a disappointing week that saw Dinton seconds’ depleted squad forfeit their clash, they were delighted to be playing as they hosted Upper Clatford.

But Dinton’s batting woes came back to haunt them as Matt Glenn ripped Dinton’s top order apart, leaving them at 6-3 in just the third over.

Sam Allen (15) and Dave Roberts did their best to redress the balance, taking the score to 24 before the pair were dismissed in consecutive overs. Andy Coulson top-scored with 18 to help his side pass the 50 mark but it was Glen who was the star of the show, taking 6-18 in his ten overs. The home side was dismissed for just 63.

Steve Middlecote marked his comeback from a back seat injury, which has sidelined him since the first game of the season, with three quick wickets.

Home skipper Rich Cridge chipped in with another to leave Clatford 23-4 at tea.

After the resumption, star bowler Glenn took to the wicket and was in no mood to hang around but, when he became Cridge’s third wicket (all LBW), Clatford were shaking at 39-6.

Middlecote (3-18) and Cridge (3-18) finished their 10-over spells but could not brake through the stubborn pair of Hugh Watts and Clatford skipper Adrian Harding, who managed to complete a four-wicket victory.

NOMANSLAND were declared all out for 202 at Cadnam seconds as they suffered their third defeat in Regional Division Two West.
