WILTSHIRE began their defence of their Unicorns Western Division Title with an emphatic win by 146 runs against Dorset at Dean Park.

The stand-out moment over the three days for Wiltshire was when Ed Young (144) and debutant Mike Reynolds (86) registered a stand of 152 for the third wicket.

Neil Clark scored 36 and Michael Bates 23. For Dorset, Mark Wolstenholme took three for 58 and Jake Lintott three for 89.

In reply, Dorset were all out for 212 in 64 overs, giving Wiltshire a lead of 145 on first innings.

Luke Webb scored 49 and Jake Lintott 41. The spinners for Wiltshire Joe King (23 overs 3 for 53 and Ed Young 15 overs 3 for 39) took the bulk of the wickets.

Wiltshire started their second innings just before lunch on the second day and began with an opening stand of 106 for the first wicket between Luke De Souza (46) and Uzi Qureshi (63).

And with Ed Young continuing his fine form with 55 not out, were able to declare at 258 for six wickets leaving Dorset eight overs and the whole of the third day to score 404 to win.

Dorset fought hard for 93 overs with Mansoor Khan scoring 41, Ryan Scott 46 and Jake Lintott 58 but were all out for 257 with 30 minutes and 17 overs remaining.

Wiltshire's next Unicorns Championship match is against Berkshire at Corsham on June 21, 22 and 23, starting at 11am each day.
