AN unbeaten half century from Simon Wakeford helped Farley return to winning ways at Mudeford II.

Wakeford provided a masterclass in batting on an under-prepared track, watchful in defence but merciless on anything overpitched, as he saw Farley home by six wickets with 13 overs to spare.

He was aided by quick runs from Mike Covill (26) and BJ Cole (41) before both fell victim to balls that kept low.

The foundations were laid by a much-improved bowling and fielding display.

Dan Jackson set the tone, removing the prolific home skipper Kelly in his first over, and gaining bounce and sharp movement.

Lewis Wakeford began his spell with four consecutive maidens, adding two scalps as Mudeford never got out of second gear. Jake Hand reaped the rewards with four victims at the end, all caught as the lower order tried to accelerate.

It meant Mudeford finished on 126-9, which proved well within Farley’s grasp.
