A FINE bowling performance from Dinton lifted them to victory as they blew apart Amesbury skittling them out for just 76.

Visiting skipper Lance Harwood called the toss correctly at Archers Gate and inserted Amesbury into bat on a hard looking pitch in blustery overcast conditions.

His decision paid dividends as Toby Allen struck with the first ball of the match, bowling Sam Dando for a diamond duck and Rich Pearce accounted for Batangala with his third leaving Amesbury 0-2 after nine balls.

Rick Lawrence and Sumith Surderen opted to counter attack in a bid to lift the early pressure but when Pearce bowled Surderen for 4 in his second over, the Amesbury innings was in tatters at 6-3.

Dinton kept the attacking field, a move that paid dividends in the ninth over when Allen struck twice. First to go was Lawrence, excellently taken at first slip by Williams and then Jamie Underwood, having played nicely, drove a ball into the covers where Charlie Palmer took an excellent catch.

Captain Dale Gower and Ciaran Fountain advanced the score to 50 but when Gower top edged back to the bowler Pearce, Amesbury collapsed to a meagre 76 all-out.

In reply Lawrence Hannaford (26) and Charlie Palmer (21) ensured there no alarms and Dinton cruised to victory with more than 24 overs remaining. The win means they cement second place and keep pressure on leaders Steeple Langford.
