AN assertive batting performance from Gary Loveless ensured Nomansland saw-off forest counterparts Alderholt by nine wickets.

The hosts won the toss and asked Alderholt to bat on Saturday and their openers Tom Morris and Steve Willoughby batted well. The pair put on 95 before Willoughby was caught and bowled for 37 by Terry Harrison in the 19th over.

Alderholt slipped a bit to 140-4 but Morris proved to be the anchor of the visitors innings and added 94 with Chris Garvey (26 not out) before he was run out for an excellent 110 in the 40th over. They closed on an imposing 247-5 at tea to leave Nomansland a tough task. Sam Dempster with 2-59 picked up the best figures.

In reply, Richard Dempster (senior) and Loveless dominated the early stages of the partnership and soon passed the 50 mark. Loveless reached his century, and was soon followed by Dempster reaching his maiden half century. The pair achieved the team’s win in the 31st over with Loveless 122 not out and Dempster senior unbeaten with 71.
