REDLYNCH and Hale thirds were the club's only success story of the weekend as they beat basement side Ringwood II at home to nudge into seventh in Regional Division 4 South West.

Guy Lucas (40) and Ian Dixon (44) shared a 91 run stand for the fourth wicket, and an unbroken partnership of 93 between Mick Wright (53*) and Michael Brown (50*) saw their side advance to 239-5 after opening bowlers G. Doe (2-32) and D Muskett (1-35) had restricted the early order.

In reply, youngster Alex Tilley (2-13) and Katie Sell (1-7) were soon amongst the wickets.

Then, the Wright (4-10) and Brown (2-13) combination, ran through the order. The match finished in spectacular fashion with Tilley taking a splendid catch from a monstrous, towering hit from Cameron as the visitors capitulated to 46 all out.

Meanwhile, at Woodfalls Cross, the first team's hopes of retaining their place in County Division Two suffered another dent at the hands of Compton & Chandlers Ford, who racked up 252-9.

Runs from Liam Palmer (49), Alex Spearing (52) and Pranay Rathod (35) secured full batting points against Ian Tanner's depleted attack, despite Nathan Pollard (2-51) instigating a breakthrough where four wickets fell cheaply.

Dave Webber set about the challenge with a brisk 34 before skying one to Jack Brennan, then the all too familiar stuttering of the innings as wickets began to tumble.

Only Pollard showed real application with a gritty 32 not out, although he and James Taylor (19) and Kev Hopkins (21) - who had to bat with a runner, did make things a bit more respectable, nearly doubling the score from 85-8 to 162 all out.

The seconds' trip to Old Bournemouthians IV also ended in defeat as Iain Soutar's side were dismissed for 133. Only Mark Savage with 31 showed any defiance as the bowlers all reaped a share of the spoils. Sean Theunissen (53*) and Mike Rosewarn (45) broke the back of the target, before Nitesh John-Nelson (26*) finished things off.

George Hayes (1-25), captured the solitary wicket to fall.
