SHREWTON seconds' decision to switch locations paid dividends as they totted up a 25-run win at Nomansland.

Due to the bad weather, coupled with the flower show taking place in Shrewton, the home club decided to dodge the original destination and re-locate.

Nomansland won the toss and invited Shrews to bat.

Sam Dempster was the main early danger and took the first four wickets to fall as the ball played tricks on the soft surface.

Shrewton batted all the way down the order, however, and although they slipped to 75-6, Tim Anderson-Emm played an excellent innings to turn the game around as he added 82 with skipper James Cash.

Cash eventually departed for 27, but Anderson-Emm went on to complete his half century before being caught for 66.

The really telling innings came at the death as number nine Darren Bentley smacked four sixes in his unbeaten 40 that took Shrewton to a healthy 214-9 at tea.

Dempster finished with a career best 5-32 and Rich Dempster picked up 3-55 at the end.

Nomansland started poorly and slipped to 20-3 in the sixth over. Terry Harrison was only at the crease for five overs but cracked 37 from 13 balls faced before being caught at deep mid-wicket to leave the home side at 63-4.

The team had to regroup and Ian Loveless assumed the anchor role and assisted by Matt Rowland and Ben Westhead (ten apiece) and then Mike Rowland with 15, which took Nomansland towards the target.

The tempo had slowed and with six overs the required rate was up to nine an over. Loveless exited for 47 and the innings closed with Nomansland 25 short. Giles Cook picked up 3-40 but the crucial spell came from Tim Barnett who bowled ten overs at the death and picked up 2-26, only conceding three boundaries, to really put a brake on things.
