JUBILANT Redlynch and Hale racked up consecutive victories in County Division Two after a close tussle with Amport.

The visitors played a full part in an exciting run chase, but finished just 19 runs short of the target.

Visiting captain Ian Langdown was rubbing his hands in glee after inserting his hosts and seeing opposite number Ian Tanner pouched at mid-on by Dan Holewell in the sixth over.

However, fortunes turned as Dave Webber (44) and Rhys Williams added 73 before the former holed out to Holewell as well.

Williams reached a fine half century with seven fours and a six before being trapped in front for 57.

Glenn Willoughby departed after a brisk 17, but Kev Hopkins continued the momentum with 30 from just 24 balls, but he too was caught by Holewell.

After that, the innings rather fell away, with the towering presence of Holewell taking two more excellent outfield catches as the hosts were stopped at 210 all out with five overs still remaining.

After the interval, the Amport reply followed a similar pattern as Ben Brown removed Dean Woodhouse for just nine.

Then Nick Bone shared stands of 63 with Rob Randall (37) and 76 with Lee Ayres (32). Bone was finally stumped by a smart piece of work by gloveman Jack Vincent off James Taylor for 69 and Ayres fell to a wonder catch by Webber at long-on. At 151-3, it was anyone's game. Taylor had Langdown (22) adjudged LBW and it was down to the tail to push for victory.

However, Taylor (3-23) and Willoughby (3-29) held their nerve to restrict Amport to 191-9 as the overs ran out. Skipper Tanner was full of praise for his entire team, who had all played their part in a memorable victory.

The club's second team game at East Christchurch was a victim of Friday's downpours.

The third string scored 128 all out, but came unstuck against Mudeford III, who secured victory by eight wickets.
