LACKLUSTRE fielding from Nomansland accounted for a six-wicket defeat at home to Bransgore.

Nomansland lost the toss and were invited to bat by Bransgore 2nds.

Gary Loveless and Simon Smith started steadily and added 63 before Smith was caught for 33. Sam Dempster joined Loveless and breezed to 34 before getting himself stumped. Terry Harrison came and went, but Rich Dempster (30) and Loveless added 81 for the fourth wicket.

Four quick wickets fell but James Mason with a quickfire 13 not out took Nomansland to 239-7 at tea, with Gary Loveless ending unbeaten on 84. Chay Fox (2-52) and Geoff Angel (3-46) were the main wicket takers but youngster Harry Bartlett with 1-31 caught the eye.

There was a feeling at tea that the home side were 20 short of where they should have been, and that proved to be the case as Dale Hunter and Mark Hooper enjoyed a double century opening stand. Nomansland had no luck at all in the field, beating the edge on numerous occasions, and spilling five catches. Mason eventually bowled Hooper for an excellent 106, and Hunter (77 not out) and skipper Will Wright (23 not out) finished the job with three overs to spare.
