STEVE Turner hit a match-winning half-century as Hyde 2nds beat Fawley 3rds by four wickets to gain vital points in a foot of the table clash in Regional

Division 2 West.

Andy Ward struck 81 not out in Fawley’s 196-3 but it could not stop Hyde from chasing down their target mainly thanks to Turner (68 no).

Withdrawn Boscombe are at the bottom of the table followed by Fawley with a 6.67 average that is over two below Hyde’s 8.92. However, with three teams going down, Hyde will need a good run in if they are to overtake Beaulieu who have an average of 10.08.

Hyde have three games left and two of these are against second and fourth placed sides Parley 2nds and Shrewton 2nds.

Alderholt lie just above Beaulieu after their 89-run defeat against Bournemouth IV at Chapel Gate.

Another team staring at relegation is Burley 2nds who crashed heavily to Sway 3rds by 214 runs in Regional Division 3 South West. Sway amassed 327-6 with Pete Bennett hitting 80 and George Lewis (85 no). Burley folded for 113.

Verwood 2nds travelled to Pylewell Park 2nds where the home side reached 239-6 thanks to Chris Melluish (111) and they were shot out for 106.

Despite a fine all-round performance from Andy Weeks, Ellingham 3rds went down to Shrewton 3rds by two wickets in Regional Division 4 South West.

Ringwood 2nds were rolled over for 61 by Totton and Eling IV who posted an unattainable 234 to win by 173 runs at West Wellow.
