BREAMORE looked to be heading for certain defeat when they visited Suttoners 2nds at Kinson Manor but then Phil Lacey turned the game on its head and his five wickets ensured a narrow three-run victory, writes Simon Rowley.

Shaun Marlow (47), Paul Veit (28), pictured right and Tom Marlow (25) took Breamore to 209-9 and then Richard Ballam (83) and Nick Dennett (41) shared in a third wicket stand of 132 to take Suttoners within sight of victory at 199-5.

Three wickets were lost at this score and Suttoners lost their last five wickets for seven runs as they folded for 206 with Lacey taking 5-17 at the end with Veit (3-50) and Tom Marlow (2-65) the other wicket-takers.

After Rob Wilson had claimed five wickets, half-centuries from Seth Loader and Will Hayward set up Hyde’s four-wicket win when they visited Sway 2nds.

Youngster Cameron Jones hit an unbeaten 52 and he held the Sway innings together as wickets tumbled to Wilson (5-30) with the side stopped at 171-8.

After the first three wickets, including Wilson (16), fell for 55, it was left to Loader (58) and Hayward (60) to pave the way for Hyde’s speedy victory in the 30th over.

Damerham suffered another batting disaster when they were skittled out for 79 when they entertained Pylewell Park. They were in trouble at 27-5 but Mark Harvey stopped the rot with 23 as Damerham were dismissed in 35 overs. The visitors took 22 overs to reach their target as Henry Gilbert claimed 4-37.

Ringwood’s dreadful season continued with a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Mudeford 2nds at the Carvers when they were reduced to 97 by Pennock (5-13) and then Kelly hit an unbeaten 50 for the victors.

It was fortunate that Godshill had an excellent start to the season with several victories as their season has deteriorated and their visit to promotion seeking Farley resulted in a 138-run victory for the home side. But, thanks to early victories, the Forest side are safe from relegation.

Mike Covill (138) and Ian Swaine (46) shared in an opening stand of 114 as Farley progressed to 256-4. Godshill slumped from 21-0 to 36-4 and 80-5 before they folded for 118 in the 38th over with only Dave Dawkins (34) showing any form as Dan Jackson took 3-33.
