HAMPSHIRE LEAGUE – OTHER REGIONAL DIVISIONS

HYDE 2nds made short work of chasing 200 for victory over Bramshaw 3rds in Regional Division 3 West as their openers Seth Loader and Rob Holbrook set up their ten-wicket win in quick time.

Bramshaw reached 199-3 thanks to Declan Mason (73 no), Brian Hart (46) and Stuart Stickland (38) but then Holbrook (93 no including 14 fours) and Loader (86 no including 11 fours) swept Hyde home without loss in the 25th over.

A fine all-round performance from James Rapson, who finished ten runs short of a century and then took six wickets, ensured Burley 2nds’ 25-run victory when they visited Camelot at Exbury.

Jim Burry (44) gave Rapson (90) good support in Burley’s 175-7 and although Chris Hollins made 50, Camelot lost early wickets to Alex Martin (3-27) and then Rapson, coming on as third change bowler, took the excellent figures of 6-32, as the home side folded for 150.

Having dismissed Winterborne 2nds for 143, Verwood 2nds managed only 119 in response.

Ringwood made it two wins from two when they entertained Parley 2nds at the Carvers in Regional Division 2 West.

Kellar Holland (2-17) and Russell Thomas (2-43) made sure that Parley were never allowed to get going and, with only Steve Laird (29) in form, they finished on 130-7.

Craig Seymour (46), with support from Richard Percy (11) and Adrian Watson (17), put Ringwood in a strong position at 100-1 but they lost wickets to Neil Squire (3-18) and it was left to Dave Butcher (11 no) and Tim Melbourne to steer them home with two overs to spare.

Although Alderholt’s skipper Steve Willoughby hit an unbeaten century, he could not stop his side from losing to Bashley-Rydal 3rds in a high scoring encounter at Fernhill.

The home side reached 337-3 mainly through Harrison (100 no) and Luke Stubbington (91) and then Willoughby (103 no) scored more than half of Alderholt’s 201-4.

The most worrying aspect of the match for Alderholt was a serious injury to stalwart Tom Morris who ruptured a bicep while batting.

After 42 years in the game, Morris hopes that the injury will not bring the curtain down on his amateur cricket career.
