AMESBURY's 100 per cent winning record in Hampshire County 4 West Division was wrecked by Dinton, who won by 85 runs.

The hosts' opening bowlers of Gareth Dobson and Jayden Atkinson began steadily after dismissing Dinton's opener Ben Coombes.

Dinton's number four, Andy O'Neil, began serenely and particularly watchful off the bowling trio of Cornelius, Sumith Surendran and Jordan Derbyshire.

However, despite building up considerable pressure, Amesbury were left to rue missed opportunities with both O'Neil and Pearce being dropped in the field.

The key turning point in Dinton's innings took shape from the 30th over, as with wickets in hand, they accelerated through the gears and aimed to set an imposing target.

Opener Pearce, who batted patiently beforehand, was eventually out for 23 off the bowling of Derbyshire. Dinton's number five (Lance Harwood) then played a small cameo role before chipping one to Jayme Underwood off the bowling of Surendran.

O'Neil duly passed his 50 and, in combination with Dan Sycklemore, set about in upping the run rate with a number of aggressive and controlled strokes, before O'Neil was eventually out for a crucial and well made 64 off the bowling of Dobson. Dobson then followed up next ball with the dismissal of Sycklemore, who made an equally important 39. Dinton closed on 219/6.

In response, Amesbury's openers Underwood and Andy Renshaw made headway Dinton's opening bowlers (Howell and Hannaford).

It wasn't until the 13th over Dinton claimed their first wicket.

The introduction of Rob Middlecote's leg spin accounted for Renshaw, bowling him for a positive 25 with the score on 41. Next to go was Derbyshire, bowled through the gate by Pearce for 1.

Underwood and Surendran began to rebuild and it took a sharp spinning delivery by Middlecote to remove Surendran. Middlecote then followed up with the dismissal of Cornelius, holing out to O'Neil on the deep mid off boundary and eventually finishing his spell with figures of 3-36.

The introduction and extra pace of Janes accounted for the wicket of opener Underwood, who batted valiantly for 47 before being bowled. Amesbury's lower order batted admirably taking the score past 130 before eventually closing out on 134 and falling well below Dinton's 219.
