DANNY Johnson struck an impressive century as Redlynch and Hale secured a four-wicket win against Overton in County Division 3 North.

Ben Brown (3-49) and Dave Webber (2-35) reduced the hosts to 34-5 after just 13 overs. However, the visitors lost their grip as Johnson fought back with a splendid unbeaten 118 to rescue his side which closed out on 235-7.

James Taylor (2-33) bagged a brace in the latter stages.

Skipper Ian Tanner (60) led the run chase despite some snappy bowling at times as he, Webber (29) and James Benson (40), smote the cherry to all parts of the ground. Then after three cheap wickets, Matt Truckle, with five towering maximums, finished unbeaten on 56 as he and Russ Church saw their team safely home and up to third where the standings are concerned.

Redlynch & Hale edge into second place in the table, but face a tough ask next Saturday when entertaining close rivals East Woodhay, with a number of players unavailable because of a wedding.

In Regional Division 2 West, the club's seconds restricted Bramshaw 2nds to 139, largely thanks to a fine 70 from Gary Loveless in a seven-wicket win.

At league leaders Broughton in Regional Division 4 North West, the thirds slumped to a 83-run defeat.
