RAIN put paid to any play in the vast majority of the county divisions but Woodgreen came away from Mudeford with an unexpected five-wicket victory thanks to an unbeaten century from Sam Parker in a reduced overs match.

County Division 3 South pacesetters Mudeford got away to a fine start thanks to openers Ronak Patel (60) and James Heaton (47) who put on 118. Colin Foster (40 no) and Joe Banfield (23) helped them to 217-8 from 43 overs with Chaz Potts (2-43) and Richard White (3-35) the best of the attack.

After a rain interruption, Woodgreen’s had a revised target of 172 off 34 overs and they started badly losing two wickets for 16.

Sam Parker then took control and he shared in stands of 70 for the third wicket with Stuart Nash (17) and 50 for the fifth with Jack Griffiths as they reached their target in the 31st over. Hitting five sixes and 12 fours, Parker finished on 106 not out.

Ellingham 2nds visited Winton at the King George V Playing Fields in County Division 4 West but having dismissed their opponents for 204, their batting let them down and they lost by 33 runs as they were stopped at 171-9.
