Hampshire League – Regional Division 1 West

AT last Hyde found some form as they scraped to a narrow four-run victory when they hosted Bransgore 2nds.

Mike Thomas (36) and Jim Kinnison (34) were the principal scorers in Hyde’s 191-8 but the Thomas brothers, Ned (27) and Hugh (24), made useful runs with Harry Bartlett (3-21) and Adam Cox (3-27) the best Bransgore bowlers.

The visitors were kept in contention by Jason Robinson (43) and Harry Bartlett (25) and their cause was helped along by 44 extras but with stalwart Mike Shutler (4-21) and Ben Daniels (2-40) making inroads into the middle order, Bransgore finished just short on 187-9.

Another fine all-round performance from their skipper Henry Gilbert, set up Damerham’s three-wicket win when they travelled to Brockenhurst at Balmer Lawn.

Micky Williams (44) was supported by Shar (31) and Jarvis (31) before Brockenhurst were bowled out for 198 in the 42nd over by James Vincent (4-37) and Henry Gilbert (3-41) after they were held in check by a very tight spell from Steve Osborne (10-5-16-0).

It was the same players who spearheaded the Damerham reply with Gilbert hitting 70 alongside Vincent (25) and Osborne (31 no) as the visitors won with more than an over in hand.

After restricting Lyndhurst and Ashurst to 159-8 at Bolton’s Bench, Godshill made heavy weather of their reply before winning by one wicket.

Simon Park (28) and George Hibell (23) top scored for the home side with David Dawkins (3-26) and Jack Parker (2-31) the best of the bowlers.

Tim Beer (47), Alan Cousins (41) and Matt Robb (26) led the Godshill reply and despite wickets falling to Hibell and Alex Hodder both with 3-33, they won in the 38th over.

Promotion-chasing Breamore were always in command of their match with Mudeford 2nds at Ledbury Road and they won comfortably by eight wickets.

Alan Bennett (2-18), Paul Veit (2-30) and Tom Marlow (2-45) stopped Mudeford at 166-9 with George Vines (35) and Liam Kelly (29) the main scorers.

Breamore skipper and opener Shaun Marlow hit an unbeaten 76 and backed up by his brother Steve and Veit, with 23 apiece, they won with 11 overs to spare.
