AN insipid batting performance in the face of some high quality bowling condemned Farley to a heavy defeat at Southampton Travellers in County Division 4 West.

With Chris Hillier (5-30) finding prodigious turn and bounce and Mark Lawless (3-13) mixing it up to great effect, Farley were all out for 68. James Melhorn, unbeaten on 19, and Mike Covill were the only men into double figures.

Earlier, Farley had lost their way with the ball after a good start. With Geoff Ramsey (3-29) to the fore, Farley had reduced Travellers to 106-6 in the 32nd over, but failed to capitalise on this as Lawless and Oza (59*) added 80 for the seventh wicket.

There was a disappointing defeat too for Farley's second team, at home to lowly Bramshaw. Farley were bundled out for 136, despite Andy Stagg's 41. Bramshaw knocked off the runs for the loss of six wickets, Gary Seymour claiming 4-27.
