REDLYNCH and Hale's second team put Hythe and Dibden thirds to the sword in Regional Division 2 West with a comfortable 57-run win.

Jack Vincent had a nice cameo of 21 before being castled by Rich Frogart as wickets fell at an alarming rate. However, Russ Church (33*) helped push the total to a respectable 160 all out in a priceless stand of 39 with Harvey Boardman.

In reply, it was a similar pattern as the hosts were soon in trouble as Dom Sell took three wickets in as many overs for no runs. Sell finished with 3-25, bowling in tandem with Church who had found his rhythm, returning 10-3-4-29. A brave knock of 44 from Jack Knight-Owen was ended when he was trapped in front by skipper Stan Boadman (2-4) and, with Ben Vincent trimming Tom Jones' bails, the home side were dismissed for 103, still 57 short.

Meanwhile at Andover, the club's thirds enjoyed a 103-run victory over their depleted hosts. Batting first, the visitors battled to 193-9, with youngster Jon Castleton (43) showing fine form against some strong bowling from Goodman (3-37) and Shiraz (4-13). Andy Soutar (31) and James Taylor, dropping down to the 3rds to find some form, smote a rapid 21.

Yet Andover, who had two players taken by its thirds just before the game started, were further reduced when another player needed to leave early, leaving them with just eight able to bat. Jack Sobucinski (2-11) was going well, when he was struck on the ear and needed hospital treatment. Although skipper Chris Hooper (28) fought bravely, no one looked able to stay with him as Ian Dixon (2-22) and Matt Ambrose-Hunt (2-11) mopped things up.

The firsts had a rest weekend as they were due to play Flamingo - a club which folded earlier in the summer.
