SOUTH Wilts youngsters had double celebrations as both the U13s and U15s won their Wiltshire Cup semi-finals.

The Under 15s emerged from a terrifically fought match with Biddestone.

Biddestone batted well throughout with Will Pritchett the stand-out batsman with a hard hit 50 retired. Cormac Pritchett (18) and Ben Oakley (23) helped him on his way with good partnerships before highly rated Toby Kershaw (15no) took the score to 119-3.

The home side suffered a blow as Will Pritchett removed Ed Wade. Adam Young and Jayden Atkinson took the score steadily through the first five overs. However, Atkinson then went on a brutal boundary spree to put his side back in contention. Five boundaries and three maximums later Atkinson retired on 50.

With 42 needed off seven overs the game was evenly poised. Max Allen (19) took the hosts closer with 25 needed off the last 3 overs. Skipper Chris Chaddock (15) and Young (26no) saw them home with 3 balls to spare. South Wilts will host Chippenham in the County Final.

The Under 13s progressed despite a tough outing at Chippenham.

Having endured a trip through the traffic heading to the summer solstice on the hottest day of the summer South Wilts were pleasantly surprised to be invited to bat first on a good looking Chippenham wicket. Whilst Will Maloney struck a quick fire 33 retired, the regular loss of wickets at the other end as a result of good tight bowling from the home attack prevented any real momentum being achieved.

A late charge from Will Langdown (19 not out) aided by some wayward late bowling, as the extreme heat took effect on the bowlers, saw South Wilts close on 113/6.

South Wilts took the field knowing that keeping the Chippenham openers quiet would be vital.

It was the introduction of spin that finally saw the pressure rewarded though as James Brewer 4-0-16-4 bowled the decisive spell of the match. With the middle order exposed, wickets continued to fall as straight bowling, sharp catching and finally an excellent run out from Cam Young saw the home side dismissed for 75 in the 18th over.
