CAPTAIN Andy Renshaw has called for his Salisbury Hockey charges to be more disciplined after they crashed to a 4-2 defeat against unbeaten Winchester on Saturday in Hampshire Division 1.

On home turf, the Lower Bemerton outfit once again fell victim to an early second half lapse in concentration after a promising start.

Teenage playmaker Nick Easterbrook fired Salisbury into the lead from a short corner before the league-leaders equalised with their own set-play.

For much of the first half it was an even affair with Winchester, who came into the game with five wins in a row, unable to exert their authority.

But a quickfire double after the break left Salisbury with too much to do, and a comeback was compounded after a fine stick save denied former skipper Tom Morton from the spot.

He made amends after scoring with ten minutes to play, but cards for poor tackling and ill-discipline meant Salisbury spent much of the second half with players in the sin bin.

Pressing for the equaliser, an Alex Rennie turnover allowed Winchester to seal the win with a fast counter-attack moments before the end.

Renshaw said: "It was disappointing not to get something from the game."

"In the end it came down to our own mistakes and discipline. We played most of the second half with ten men, which you can't afford to do against a team like Winchester."
