SALISBURY Hockey continued their scintillating form on Saturday with a fourth consecutive victory at the hands of University of Southampton 4-1.
In the last game before the Christmas break, the Lower Bemerton side overpowered the students to move within two points of second-placed Weymouth.
But the hosts found themselves down to an early goal when Southampton powered in a penalty corner.
The equaliser came soon afterwards when Alex Rennie found Nick Easterbrook who beat a couple of defenders before laying off to Rory Sheriff for apply the finish.
Dom Welman put Salisbury in the lead from a penalty corner before an Easterbrook drag-flick made it 3-1 at the break.
In the second half, the hosts controlled the game and it wasn't long before Salisbury rounded off the scoring when a diving Tom Morton converted a Welman cross after he was released by a fine ball from skipper Andy Renshaw.
Renshaw told JournalSport: "We've been performing really well over the last four or five weeks. It's a shame the Christmas break has come now.
"Confidence is high in the squad at the moment which showed again on Saturday. We scored some real high quality goals."
