SALISBURY Hockey will look to continue their fine run of form when the second half of the season gets underway on Saturday against the University of Southampton.

The Lower Bemerton outfit sit in fifth place in Hampshire Division One, two points off second-placed Weymouth, following a run of four consecutive victories.

However, after narrowly missing out on the title last season, they trail Winchester by eight points with only one side guaranteed promotion. It was a rough start to the season for the men's outfit but a 5-0 demolition of third placed University of Portsmouth on December 5 has kick-started their campaign.

Captain Andy Renshaw now says his side is relishing the prospect of playing in the second half of the season.

He told JournalSport: "As a club we are starting to look strong right the way through the men's section. We started to build some momentum before the Christmas break with four wins from four."

"If we carry that form we will be right up there come April."

The ladies currently sit in third place in the West Clubs Women's Hockey Premier Division 2 A, trailing leaders Newent by 11 points.

They start the second half of their campaign on Saturday, January 16 away at Cheltenham.
