FIVE-STAR Salisbury Hockey Men's firsts recorded a second successive victory that moves them up to third in Hampshire Division 1.

Two goals from Tom Morton and Hector Lyons, and one from skipper Andy Renshaw, secured a 5-3 victory over Southampton University.

Buoyed by the 7-0 demolition of Fareham, the Lower Bemerton outfit raced into the lead as Morton found the bottom corner with a sweet strike.

A second goal followed shortly after with a sublime reverse stick finish by Lyons.

Salisbury continued to enjoy the better of the play and scored a third when Renshaw tapped in a Dom Welman cross.

A lapse in concentration then allowed Southampton Uni to score, with Salisbury's defence making a first mistake of the match.

Lyons scored his second and Salisbury's fourth soon after the restart following a one- on-one scenario with the goalkeeper.

Morton then gave Salisbury further breathing space, extending the lead to 5-1.

The visitors struck two quickfire goals in search of a revival - but Salisbury hung on for the victory.

Renshaw said: "I'm pleased with the way we played in the first half, and then the way we killed the game off early in the second.

"I felt we lost a bit of shape when I was forced off, but it was a great win against a team that have scored as many goals as Southampton University have this season."
