SALISBURY 1’s hockey team travelled to Fareham on Saturday as they searched to find their first win of the season.

They started brightly carving out a few chances, Salisbury however did not capitalise on their dominance in the opening 15 minutes.

Fareham worked their way back into the game and a quick counter saw a ball fall to an unmarked Fareham player who calmly scored the game’s opening goal.

Salisbury were convinced they scored minutes later however it was ruled out due to an earlier infringement.

Early into the second half Andy Renshaw was able to level things with an easy finish. Fareham reacted well and shortly after they scored following another goal mouth scramble.

Fareham continued to look for the third which allowed Salisbury opportunities however the normally prolific Tom Morton could not make one count.

Fareham scored a third on the break as Salisbury committed further players forward, confirming the home team’s 3-1 win.

After the game captain Tom Brady told JournalSport: “We look back on the game and think we could have been at least two up in ten minutes.

“Whilst it’s frustrating to find ourselves behind after such positive spells, we need to keep our discipline, composure and back ourselves to take the further chances we know we can create.”
