Dina Asher-Smith claimed three titles at the European Championships to become the first Brit to take the 100m, 200m and 4x100m crowns.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at the talking points from Berlin and going forward.

How much history has she made?

Asher-Smith first entered the record books when she became the first British woman to take the 100m European title since Dorothy Hyman in 1962.

She then successfully defended her 200m title on Saturday to become the first British woman to do the European double.

And No Brit had ever taken the 100m, 200m and 4x100m crown at a major championships before her relay victory on Sunday night at the Olympic Stadium.

Who are her main rivals?

In the 200m, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, Shericka Jackson and Shaunae Miller-Uibo have recorded the other quickest times in the world this year behind Asher-Smith and will be rivals on the world stage.

The Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josee Ta Lou shares the joint world lead with Asher-Smith this year in the 100m.

Jamaica’s double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson holds the 100m and 200m titles Asher-Smith craves and it will be hard to wrestle them away.

World champion in the 200m Dafne Schippers remains a threat despite being beaten in Germany.

The challenge has been set

Schippers has already thrown down the gauntlet ahead of next year’s World Championships.

The 200m title holder insists 2019 will be different, with many taking 2018 as a down year.

Schippers trailed Asher-Smith in Berlin – claiming 100m bronze and 200m silver – and believes her British rival is world class.

Asher-Smith has also admitted her stellar week in Berlin will mean nothing going into next year.

World Championships and Olympics

Asher-Smith has already demonstrated her talent on the world stage after she came fourth in the 200m last year.

That came after she nearly missed the championships and had her preparation disrupted by breaking her foot in the February.

With European success, though, she continued to demonstrate her class and will be expected to build on her Berlin triumphs at the 2019 World Championships in Doha next September and the Tokyo Olympics.

She set two world-leading individual times and a relay world lead in Berlin and pressure will be on to get faster.
