DEACON Alms ran out comfortable 6-2 winners against South Newton & Wishford reserves in Division One on Saturday.

Player-manager Tom Symes claimed a superb hat-trick, firing in two free kicks and a lovely curling effort. Full backs Ross Uglow and Dale Gower both got on the scoresheet for the first time this season, Uglow with a tidy header, and Gower from long range.

John Baines grabbed his second of the season with a good finish from a tight angle after the keeper had parried. Uglow was denied a brilliant second, when his mazy run ended with an outside of the boot effort which was ruled to have not crossed the line.

Amesbury Kings Arms easily came away with all three points from Value Cars.

With only a minute on the clock, the Kings were awarded a penalty which Nick Voce slotted home, but Value Cars found an equaliser against the run of play.

However, Martin Luke restored the Kings’ lead with a header just before half time and their top scorer Jake Minnitt put the game to bed late on, tapping in Danny Goodall’s cross.
