TIM Fewins was the star of the show for The Wanderers as his impressive hat-trick was part of an eight-goal mauling handed out to Nomansland and Landford.

The title holders leaped into third place in Salisbury and District Premier League after a swift recovery from last week’s setback against Alderbury.

Dominating and pressing high in the early stages, the home outfit created a number of half chances with their sharp play.

However, it took a different route to goal to open the scoring on 19 minutes, Wanderers’ custodian putting talisman Adam Jones through on goal and, after a delightful first touch, smashed home the opener.

Strike partner Fewins later ran through to claim the second. Fewins then turned provider moments later, setting up Wanderers’ skipper for number three.

Aaron Doyle then blasted home his inaugural goal to give the hosts a 4-0 lead at the break.

With the game all but won, the home side kept their foot on the gas and a minute into the second half Fewins got his second.

And it wasn’t long before the frontrunner was on target to secure a hat-trick.

Jones got his brace late on and then won a penalty which substitute Alex Davies despatched.

Manager Liam McConnell said: “The lads didn’t need me to motivate them, it was all about them.

“They had a week to lick their wounds and focus.

“That’s the sort of performance we have become accustomed to seeing over the years and what we work hard for on the training pitch, so it was nice to see players playing with aggression, confidence and a smile on their faces.”
