SHREWTON overcame the early loss of casualty Dean Shaw, pictured, to get their season back on track after a comfortable home success against Trowbridge.

The home side were frazzled early on when Shaw was rushed to hospital with a suspected broken ankle following an awkward fall.

However, the unfortunate incident didn’t stop Shrewton from having a spring in their step, dominating several chances before Dean Foot rounded the Trowbridge keeper and finished it off from a tight angle.

But poor defending a l l o w e d the visitors back into the game as they made the most of a rare attack.

Overcoming this setback, Shrewton were soon on the rampage again and regained the lead before half time as Kieron Kiff finished smartly past the Trowbridge keeper.

On the stroke of half-time Kiff extended the lead as his powerful run got him behind the visiting back line and he slotted home.

After the break the pattern of the game continued with Joey Weeks scoring two on his first appearance of the season to round off a man of the match performance on his return from Amesbury Town.

Shrewton, 5-2 victors, take on Melksham Town in the Wiltshire Premier League at home on Saturday (3pm).
