SALISBURY hockey fourths took on Aldershot & Farnham, but didn’t have much fortune.
The loss of four experienced midfielders proved vital as these positions were filled with youngsters, who were sometimes out muscled and lost possession in precarious situations. Aldershot took the lead from a second short corner but Salisbury got back on level terms through Henry Smith.
But, 18 minutes after the break, Aldershot netted the winning goal as the visitors slipped to their second defeat of the campaign, surrendering 2-1.
In youth hockey, William Briggs sealed a brace in Salisbury boys under 12s’ firsts’ 2-2 draw with Romsey at Hampshire Collegiate School.
The same age group’s second team were on the end of a 1-2 defeat to Fleet and Ewesholt at South Wilts Sports Club.
Meanwhile, the under 14 boys were 12-2 winners and the under 16s lost 0-3.
There were wins for both under 12 girls’ teams, winning 5-2 and 7-1.
