SARUM Youth Seniors proved a point at league leaders Ludgershall Sports FC after battling out an eight goal-frenzy in Wiltshire League Premier Division.
The game started off at a fast pace from both teams, but Ludgershall struck in the first five minutes. Sarum, refusing to be beaten, came back with an equaliser from Marcus Giddings to show their determination before the half time whistle.
In the second half, Mitch Alford smashed the ball straight past the keeper to put Sarum ahead.
The hosts were rattled, but they were then presented with the chance they needed with a penalty kick, which they converted to make it 2-2.
Sarum came back strong when a great pass went straight into the path of Alford who tapped in to regain Sarum’s advantage.
With spirits high for the home team, another goal came in quick succession from Dan Paddington, giving Sarum a clear two-goal cushion at 4-2.
But thing didn’t pan out so swimmingly as in the final ten minutes the table-toppers twice hit back for a point, the game finishing 4-4.
Sarum manager Dan Cousins said: “The football we played was some of our best it was just unfortunate that we couldn't hold onto the lead until the very end.
“I think this game has shown what a strong team we are and I am pleased to have taken away a point.”
