THE Wanderers kept their faint hope of retaining the Salisbury and District Premier League with a comprehensive 6-1 drubbing over rock-bottom Cedars FC.

Stalwart Ben Coveney opened the scoring inside five minutes only to see his team pegged back 10 minutes later.

Top scorer Tim Fewins ensured his side had a cushion going into the interval, as he converted two chances in the 28th and 42nd minute.

The second half saw the visitors dominate proceedings but it took a moment of magic from Steve Tinkler to continue the scoring. His corner sailed directly into the far corner in the midway point during the second half. Nick Newman got in on the act with a well-taken free kick, and he doubled his tally with four minutes left on the clock by heading home Guthrie’s right wing cross.

In the Bledisloe Cup, Alderbury knocked out South Newton and Wishford following a 4-2 triumph.

SUNDAY saw the first cup final of 2015 played out at Laverstock and Ford. Barford Hornets ran out Charity C Cup winners and went onto lift the trophy.

They beat James Hay 2-0.
