ALDERBURY FC took another stride towards adding the league cup to their trophy cabinet with a narrow 2-1 win at Devizes Inn.

The Salisbury and District (Saturday) Premier leaders marched into a five-point lead at the summit to remain title favourites with three games to go.

Two more wins for Alderbury, the new stockers of Morrison Cup and Premier Cup, will guarantee the crown is there’s, with many teams surrounding them having plentiful games in hand.

Behind the leaders are South Newton, who are mathematically ruled out of the title battle despite winning their penultimate league fixture at Porton Sports.

They edged a seven-goal blockbuster 4-3 at DSTL Playing Field.

At the foot of the table, Amesbury Kings Arms overcame a 3-2 scrap at the hands of Chalke Valley to push clear of the relegation zone.

Valley look to escape the danger when they welcome Stockton and Codford, fresh from Saturday’s cup heroics, tonight (6pm).

Saturday sees Cedars FC take on Stockton and Codford, Porton Sports host Amesbury Kings Arms FC and South Newton and Wishford entertain Alderbury, all start at 2.30pm.
