DEVIZES Inn ended their season with a 0-4 home defeat at the hands of Stockton and Codford at Victoria Park.

The Salisbury outfit were without key players in central positions, with towering centre half and captain Darryl Ford, midfield maestro John Leech and striker Ollie Hill all missing.

Player-manager and stand-in skipper Luke Ford started the match up front and missed a guilt-edged chance after 15 minutes, dragging his shot wide of the post.

The hosts went behind after 42 minutes when Stockton rounded off a well-worked passing move with a good finish to take the lead.

Two minutes later, the visitors scored a second from long ball over the top to secure two-goal half-time advantage.

After a positive start in the second half, Devizes Inn conceded a third to put the game beyond them, before the visitors added a fourth with six minutes to play.

Manager Luke Ford said he had set his sights on winning the league next season.

"We've got a great team and we're looking forward to next year," he said.

Sharp-shooter Ollie Hill finishes the season as his side's top scorer with 16 in all competitions.

Devizes Inn ended their Salisbury and District Premier League campaign in fifth, while Stockton's victory narrowed Alderbury's lead at the top to just three points.

Both teams have two games left.

The Wanderers, who still have an outside chance, may well decide who wins the title as they face both Stockton and Alderbury in their final games of the season.
