A NEGLECTED social club at Tisbury United FC is back in business thanks to the dedication of Dave Hindle.
The club stalwart retired from the police force in November to pursue the renovation of the social club in Station Road, with help from committee members, and get it thriving again.
After months of devotion, Hindle is celebrating the reopening of the refurbished club tonight with a disco and marquee, which is set to attract 80 to 100 people.
“I hope the refurbished social club can become a focal point of the community,”
said manager Hindle.
From just being open on matchdays for the past five years, the bar facilities will now be open on Wednesday to Friday (4pm to 11pm) and midday to 11pm on weekends.
Hindle hopes the club will attract locals from The Crown Inn which recently shut down.
“Hopefully we can get some of the regulars from the pub to become regulars here,” he added. Customers popping into the club will also be able to enjoy live Sky Sports matches on newly installed TVs. All money made will be put back into the club to endorse a future make-over, and a scheme to help membership grow is also planned.
Tisbury’s senior side compete in Salisbury and District Premier Division (Saturday) and are back in action at high-flying Durrington Dynamos on Saturday, March 15 (2.30pm).
