City players' reaction to opening day draw

Matt Tubbs...

"We should have got three points out of it, with them getting a man sent off so early.

"But fair play to them. On their own patch, they dug in and did a good job against us.

"It was one of those games where it just didn't fall for us in the box.

"We knew we were going to have games like that.

"It's just a matter of time before all those balls start falling to our feet and we'll be banging them in the back of the net."

Tim Bond...

"It was an enjoyable start. I think a few of the lads were a bit nervous. I was, anyway - excited but apprehensive.

"It was completely different to the Nottingham Forest game - that was just a one-off.

"The first game of the season is always difficult.

"We're disappointed with the result in view of the sending off.

"I saw the stamp straight away and a few of the lads saw it. Obviously the ref did, too.

"It's difficult playing ten men because you get so much more time than you should have."

Matt Robinson...

"It was a funny old game. It was to their credit that they didn't sit back on it after going down to ten men. They still played with two wide men and still came at us.

"We got plenty of balls into the box but it just didn't really break for us and, on another day, we could have scored two or three.

"I think everyone's settled into it quite quickly and we know we're capable of competing at this level.

"We're disappointed because the points were there for the taking but we'll settle for a point away from home.

"It's a point on the board and that has to be a positive start."

Aaron Cook...

"I think everyone's disappointed we've not taken all three points.

"We had the chances and we do need to take them.

"They didn't cause us too much trouble and we'd have been happy with a clean sheet before we came.

"It's just all about taking the chances, really.

"Originally when they went down to ten men I thought we made use of it quite well but they didn't resort to putting ten men behind the ball.

"They kept playing and we just couldn't break them down.

"I was quite close to it. Luckily the ref was right there too. He did have to go. He pleaded his innocence, as they do, but it was a straight red, so they can't really grumble."

Ryan Clarke...

"It's nice to get a clean sheet to start.

"You can look at it as a disappointment, but it could have been worse.

"We had to deal with what they threw at us.

"It was up to us to take the game to them and we didn't do that but we've got to take the positives out of it and move forward.

"It's a good result for me and for the back five as a group. We can score goals - we proved that last year.

"It's just a matter of time and it will happen."
