Holmes' reaction to Woking victory

SALISBURY City manager admitted to being highly satisfied with his side's start to life in the Blue Square Premier which has seen them take 11 points from a possible 15.

Whites remain unbeaten in their five games, with victory over Woking giving them their third home success.

First half goals by Matt Tubbs and Darrell Clarke put Whites in the driving seat in front of a record league attendance at the Ray Mac of 2,093.

However, a tense finale ensued after City conceded late on.

"They made it difficult for us at the end, to be fair," said the City boss.

"They were a completely non-attacking force in the first half.

"Not until the 49th minute of the first half - which was way over the referee's added time - did they have an effort.

"So they had to have a bit more of a go at us in the second half.

"Until we gave away a couple of free kicks, they still didn't create anything. We were still doing most of the attacking."

Holmes was pleased with the number of chances City created and delighted that summer signing Darrell Clarke netted his first for the club.

"It was no different to what we did to Farsley the other day. We completely dominated them.

"Clarkey got his first goal of many, I would hope.

"He comes to us as a regular goalscorer and you've seen from the games that we've had so far that could easily be his third or fourth.

"But I thought our general play in the first hour of the game was very, very good."
