THERE was controversy from start to finish as a 3-1 defeat by Andover New Street dashed Salisbury City Ladies' hopes of securing a league and cup double.
The sides were awarded a dubious penalty apiece, during a game which had more than its fair share of incidents.
Both manager Neville Beal and assistant John Scott were reprimanded by the officials for questioning decisions.
Andover took the lead for a penalty awarded following a shoulder-to-shoulder challenge.
They doubled their advantage when Salisbury made a rare defensive lapse.
Taz Pitman pulled one back when City were on the right end of another questionable penalty decision.
However, Andover New Street made certain of victory, being awarded their third when the linesman ruled that a goalbound ball caught by the Salisbury 'keeper had in fact crossed the line.
Having already been crowned league champions with 14 wins from as many starts, City had hoped to complete the campaign unbeaten.
