SALISBURY CITY’s goal machine Jamie White believes it’s a tough task to surpass last season’s mammoth goal record but is ready for the challenge.

The prolific striker leads the way as the league’s top scorer and grabbed his tenth of the campaign in smart fashion at Dover Athletic on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, who capitalised 54 times for Winchester City in the Sydenhams Premier League, has adjusted to life in Blue Square South incredibly well.

But despite White’s terrific goal record and contribution so far for the Whites, there’s more on its way, according to the striker.

He said: “I feel I’ve jumped leagues very well but I still feel like I’ve got more to come. It’s good scoring the goals I have, but it’s more important that the team are winning and we’ve got to maintain it.

“It’s a bonus to score goals but winning is key.”

White has scored 11 goals overall, of the 25 collected by the team, which he recorded against the likes of AFC Hornchurch, Tonbridge Angels, Bath City, Eastbourne Borough, Newport IOW, Hayes & Yeading, Dorchester Town, Boreham Wood and Dover.

White, from Southampton, added: “At the start of the season, I’d have settled for 30 goals, and if I reach that target, then I’ll set myself a new one.

“It’s a difficult task to beat 54 goals last season, but you never know, anything can happen in football.”
