SALISBURY City’s Three Lions reached another milestone in their budding careers as they made their second international appearance in the scorching Jordan heat.

The trip to Jordanian capital Amman for Whites’ Angus MacDonald, Dan Fitchett and Elliott Frear ended with England C victory over the hosts’ under 23s side.

Frear’s sweet cross set up the solitary winner for Cambridge United midfielder Luke Berry to nod home just after the half hour mark in the King Abdullah Stadium on Tuesday.

“It was a very good result considering the conditions,” said the speedy winger.

“The pitch wasn't very good at all but to be fair to the lads we dug in and stuck together. I was pleased with my performance and was buzzing to get another assist.”

“It has been a great experience, and definitely a highlight of my season.”

“I owe a lot to Mikey Harris who has given me the opportunity to play each week and that has resulted in me getting the call-up to the England C team.”

“Now I want to kick on and help City reach the play offs.”

Attacking teammate Fitchett, making his debut with the others last November in Woking, was thrown on by Paul Fairclough in the second half and had a few sniffs on goal.

The 22-year-old says he was pleased to get some more England minutes under his belt.

“It was a very enjoyable experience, somewhere I've never been and to experience the culture and differences from England has been great.”

“It was a great result against a good team, the pitch made it hard to play free-flowing football but we did a good job, got a goal and defended really well. Personally it was nice to get more minutes and play my part.”

Before the game, the whole England C camp put a smile on the faces of refugees during the time spent coaching and playing on Monday. The trio said it was a very “humbling” experience.

Now, the three players, hoping to get a third call-up when England face Slovakia in an International Challenge Trophy encounter in May, look to restart Salisbury’s play-off challenge at home to Luton Town on Saturday (3pm).
