NEWLY-married Mikey Harris, pictured right, is set to have talks about his future as Salisbury City manager tomorrow.

The current Whites boss, 29, who has been in Italy with his new wife Sarah Gomme on honeymoon, will be meeting with owner Mark Winter on his return.

The two will be meeting up for the first time since the club was axed from the Conference Premier on Friday and relegated to Conference South.

Despite the club being in financial turmoil, Mr Winter’s gut instinct is that Harris will continue in the hot-seat.

“I’ve tried my hardest to leave Mikey in peace,” he said.

“The last thing he needed on honeymoon was to be making decisions about his future. We’ll sit down and talk when he is back tomorrow.”

Harris, guiding the club to a 12th place finish in his first year in management, was in the process of staring pre-season plans after the takeover deal last month.

That includes finding a replacement for Warren Feeney as assistant manager and renewing existing players’ contracts as well as making a move in the summer transfer window for fresh faces.

Some players were offered deals before the club was relegated, which could now see them change their mind.

Mr Winter added: “As far as the squad is concerned, Mikey is keen to retain the core of the squad. Many of whom are anxiously waiting to find out what’s going on.”

“If we stay in the Conference South it may not be good for some of their careers.

“Some players have been offered new deals but some of which could double their earnings at bigger clubs.”

So far, Brian Dutton, Jamie White and Clovis Kamdjo have departed with more set to go, while goalkeeper Will Puddy, who went to the open evening on Monday night, and Robbie Sinclair have expressed an interest to stay.

If City pay their outstanding debts and secure a £50,000 bond by 5pm on Friday, July 4, they will stay in Conference South and kick-start their pre-season programme.

They face the likes of AFC Wimbledon, Reading and AFC Bournemouth, but Mr Winter says he’s most looking forward to Poole Town away.
