Whites still eye top ten finish

SALISBURY City's debut season in the top flight of non-league football comes to a close tomorrow when former Football League side York City visit Old Sarum.

The Minstermen, like the Whites, are safely ensconced in mid-table so there are no last day promotion/relegation issues at stake.

However, Colin Walker's side will certainly have a point to prove after Salisbury's 3-1 victory against them at the Kit Kat Crescent late last year.

That result proved one defeat too many for Walker's predecessor Billy McEwan, who was sacked shortly afterwards - the side then lying perilously close to the relegation zone.

Under Walker, York have improved their points tally significantly, and should they triumph tomorrow, would finish on 65 points - the same as 13th placed Salisbury.

Victory for the Whites however, would give them an outside chance of a top ten finish, but they would need other results to go their way.

Nick Holmes, already without the injured Robbie Matthews and Andy Sandell, is also missing midfielder Mike Fowler, who serves the second game of his four-match suspension following last week's dismissal against Cambridge United.

In line with all other Blue Square Premier matches, kick off at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium, is 5.15pm.

As roadworks in the vicinity of the stadium will now be suspended over the weekend, no traffic problems are anticipated.

The only game to impact on the promotion/relegation issues in the BSP is Weymouth's match with fellow strugglers Altrincham.

Defeat would send Altrincham down along with Stafford Rangers and Droylsden (who meet tomorrow at Marston Road) and Farsley Celtic, whose poor goal difference has almost certainly condemned them to the drop regardless of their result against Grays Athletic.

At the other end of the table - champions Aldershot, who in chalking up 100 points have set a new Conference record, head to Rushden & Diamonds, while the results of the four sides already set to contest the second promotion spot - Torquay United, Cambridge United, Burton Albion and Exeter City - will decide who plays who in the play-offs.

Matt Tubbs, Wayne Turk and Marvin Brown were all on target for City when the two sides met in November. To view their goals plus action from that game visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEqQDoWxmbo
