Whites finish on a high

SALISBURY City completed their Blue Square Premier campaign by defeating York City this evening at the Ray Mac.

Whites ran out comfortable 3-0 victors courtesy of first half goals by Tim Bond and Matt Tubbs plus Liam Feeney's second half effort, to register a six-point haul this term against the former Football League outfit.

The win, coupled with other results going their way, means Salisbury end the campaign in 12th place on 68 points, much to the delight of manager Nick Holmes.

"It's good to finish with a win. We took our chances today - I thought the second goal was exceptional."

Player/coach Tommy Widdrington made a rare first team appearance late on replacing Ian Herring.

"Tommy showed he could still do a job for us when asked," added Holmes, who confirmed Thursday's Wiltshire Premier Shield final against Swindon Town would be treated as a full first team fixture.

"It's certainly a first team game - it means a lot to us to win that one, so we'll be putting a strong team out. You might see some of those who were on the bench today get a game, but we'll be looking to win it."

Whites also take on Shrewton United on Monday in the final of the Salisbury Hospital Cup.
