WESSEX League newbies Salisbury FC are gearing up for life in the fifth tier of the National League System.

FA bosses decided to place the new Whites into the Wessex Premier for the 2015/16 season after meeting at Wembley headquarters on Thursday.

The verdict means the Ray Mac outfit will pit their wits against the likes of neighbours Bemerton Heath Harlequins, Winchester City, Andover Town and Newport (IOW) from August 8.

The club say they won’t be appealing the decision, allowing them to start putting plans in place for the new era.

Tuesday saw officials meet at the club to discuss admission prices for next season.

Adults will be charged £8, £5 senior citizens/students, £4 five to 16 year olds and under-5s go free.

Season ticket prices for adults are £125 for terracing or £140 main stand, senior citizens/students £75 terracing or £90 main stand and £50 for under-16s.

When asked by the Journal about the prices, director Ian Ridley said: “We realise we are going to be a lot more expensive than many other teams in the Wessex League, but have very good facilities to offer and we think it’s good value for money.

“Clearly we have a lot of work to do on the ground and a rent to pay this season that the club have never had in the past and also want to give Steve Claridge the best possible chance of promotion. So we are sure fans will understand the pricing. It’s a new era with a new initiative.”
